Haven Point

​Haven Point is our state of the art leisure facility at South Shields seafront, boasting:

• a 25 metre competition pool and 18 metre teaching pool, both with adjustable floors for varying age groups and abilities
• leisure waters with slides, sprays, bubble spa and water play
• a sauna and steam room
• an 86 station gym
• two dance studios offering a variety of fitness classes
• coffee lounge, cafe, outdoor terrace, two multi-purpose rooms, amphitheatre and a roof top viewing gallery 

Haven Point is proud to be part of the Leisurewatch scheme. This provides training and support to our staff to help them recognise concerning behaviour and act to stop it, making our public spaces safer for all of us.

How to get here

By car

Haven Point is located on the A183 approximately 0.2 miles from South Shields Town Centre.

There is ample car parking available nearby at Pier Parade (car parking), Pierhead (car parking) and Harbour Drive South (car parking).

Free parking is available with the multi-activity membership (£28.50) and joint household membership (£50). For more information visit our leisure memberships page.

By local bus services

Bus number E1 stops outside of Haven Point. 

For those who are not on this bus route, you can get a bus to South Shields Town Centre, followed by a 10 minute walk (along King Street, then onto Ocean Road, which will lead you to Pier Parade).

By metro

The nearest Metro station is South Shields followed by a 10 minute walk.

Gym at Haven Point

Haven Point has a fantastic, state of the art fitness suite featuring 86 stations.

Our cardiovascular machines such as treadmills, cross trainers, cycles and steppers, along with resistance weight training equipment and a fitness rig, cater to users of all fitness levels.

You must be aged 14 or over to use the gym.

Main pool

The main pool is 25 metres in length and has 8 lanes.

Leisure waters

The Haven Point leisure waters include slides, sprays, a bubble spa and water play.

Haven Point's Cafe is open 7 days a week and offers a selection of healthy food and snacks, along with a range of hot and cold drinks.
