Summer Holiday Club (free activities)
Children and young people who are eligible for benefit related free school meals or are in a family currently experiencing hardship in South Tyneside can attend free activity sessions throughout the 2022 Summer holidays.
The activities and food provision will take place from Monday 25 July until Friday 2 September.
All events are subject to availability and booking is essential.
The sessions will include:
- a variety of fun activities
- exciting opportunities to learn and develop skills
- a nutritious meal each day
Who can attend
To be eligible to attend the free Summer Holiday Club activities, children and young people must:
- live in South Tyneside, and
- be 5 to 16 years old, and
- be eligible for benefit related free school meals, or be in a family currently experiencing hardship
We are operating on a trust based booking system which will hopefully allow families who will really benefit from free meals and activities, to access them.
The Summer Holiday Club is funded by the GOV.UK: Department for Education's holiday activities and food programme 2022. As part of this funding, there is criteria regarding eligibility which includes children receiving benefits related free school meals or children who are part of a family experiencing hardship. All recipients of the funding must follow this criteria.
Children who aren't eligible can still attend some of the same activities, as well as other free and paid-for activities, see What's on.
Book a place
Most places on the Summer Holiday, Activities and Food Programme can be booked via Eventbrite, however some need to be booked via telephone, email or online. See below for more information.

Fun activities with CREST (Compact for Race Equality South Tyneside)
Eligible children and young people can enjoy multi-sports, games, dance and day trips with CREST.
CREST aims to promote racial equality and to assist people from communities in South Tyneside to enjoy a better quality of life by supporting those in need to gain access in education, training and employment.

You can book places up to three days before the activity.
Some activities are suitable for families and spaces may need to be booked for parents / guardians as well as children.
There are a range of activities suitable for all ages between 5-16 years. Please read the event descriptions on Eventbrite or ask the provider when contacting them to book for further information.
It is essential that you book a place for your child / children on the Summer, Holiday and Activities Programme. Please do not turn up to an event without booking.

Local TV North East brings you energetic, fun bitesize content aimed for a healthier body and mind. From toddlers to teenagers, enjoy activities from arts and crafts, cookery and fitness, to music, mindfulness and languages and everything in-between.

- The Lunchtime Club - suitable for 9-12 year olds
