Summer holiday food and activities

Summer Holiday Club (free activities)

Children and young people who are eligible for benefit related free school meals or are in a family currently experiencing hardship in South Tyneside can attend free activity sessions throughout the 2022 Summer holidays.

The activities and food provision will take place from Monday 25 July until Friday 2 September.

All events are subject to availability and booking is essential.

 The sessions will include:

  • a variety of fun activities
  • exciting opportunities to learn and develop skills
  • a nutritious meal each day

Who can attend

To be eligible to attend the free Summer Holiday Club activities, children and young people must:

  • live in South Tyneside, and
  • be 5 to 16 years old, and
  • be eligible for benefit related free school meals, or be in a family currently experiencing hardship

We are operating on a trust based booking system which will hopefully allow families who will really benefit from free meals and activities, to access them.

The Summer Holiday Club is funded by the GOV.UK: Department for Education's holiday activities and food programme 2022. As part of this funding, there is criteria regarding eligibility which includes children receiving benefits related free school meals or children who are part of a family experiencing hardship. All recipients of the funding must follow this criteria.

Children who aren't eligible can still attend some of the same activities, as well as other free and paid-for activities, see What's on.
