Combined Touch are a not-for-profit social enterprise and community interest company (CIC) based in South Shields.
Combined Touch believe in a person-centred approach and that dementia care matters. The people who engage with their service are at the forefront of what the organisation does.
Come along to their day centre and you will find singing, laughter, chatter, energy and movement, as staff and volunteers provide support for any individual with early onset to mid stage dementia.
The centre is a place where loved ones can spend a few hours or all day in the certain knowledge that they will be supported by caring, competent, well-trained staff and volunteers in a homely and safe atmosphere.
They welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds and actively encourage retired people to come along and join us, either to sit and chat, have a cup of tea and a bite to eat, or provide support and assistance to our service users. By doing this, we aim to give service users confidence, interaction, self-belief and purpose.
Their days are structured but not regimented, and service users are encouraged to use their minds and bodies in both physical and mental exercises, talking, dance and music.
