Mr Kirtley of The Grange (now demolished) presented the house's large grounds to Boldon Urban District Council to create Grange Park. The park consists of two distinct areas: the demolished villa's 'lost' gardens with sneaking paths and ornamental shrubs, and the flatter, more open parkland to the north created at the turn of the Twentieth Century
