We are delighted to be able to continue our very successful South Tyneside STEM subject leaders' network, run in conjunction with Northumberland Tyne and Wear Science Learning Partnership, the North East STEM Ambassador Hub, The Great North Maths Hub & King's Priory Computing Hub.

This academic year we are excited to announce that we will have a D.T. specialist from a school in North Tyneside Learning Trust meaning we have something for all STEM subject leaders; Science, D&T, Computing & Maths!
Content:
STEM subjects in schools are the foundation of so many careers and offer transferable skills which are relevant for other lines of work.
In the current climate, subjects often have longer term curriculum plans which don't always align where they could. This integrated offer will aim to support schools in aligning their curriculum, raise the profile of STEM subjects in their schools and support planning. We will also look at enriching the curriculum with other engaging activities and there will be opportunities to explore how to incorporate careers into your STEM subjects in primary schools.
Expected Impact on Schools:
- STEM Subject leaders will have the opportunity to meet with other local subject leaders and share best practice about engaging pupils and ensuring progress in the STEM subjects
- Working with other, subject leaders will develop ideas and activities to support interactive teaching and learning where STEM subjects are interdependent
- STEM subject leaders will have the chance to identify key areas of the curriculum that could be enriched through incorporating links with employers and STEM careers and explore how STEM Ambassadors can provide support to schools
Target Group:
This specific set of network meetings is aimed predominantly at primary Maths, Science, Computing, D&T or STEM subject leaders; however, they are open to all staff. Schools are able to send numerous and or/different members of staff to each session.
