Who is this course for? (Eligibility and personal characteristics)This course is for anyone aged 19 or over who already holds a hackney carriage / private hire driver local authority licence. Ideal for Hackney Carriage/Private Hire drivers wishing to update their knowledge and skills.

  • providing assistance, including wheelchair assistance
  • transporting luggage and other items
  • transporting children safely
  • processing fares

What are the entry requirementsMust already hold a hackney carriage / private hire driver local authority licence.
Requirements of the course e.g. personal protective equipment, tools, materialsCandidate must provide a taxi / private hire vehicle to carry out observations.

A wheelchair accessible vehicle, wheelchairs and safety equipment will be provided to carry out a practical wheelchair element of the course.

Progression and Careers

Can progress further in the sector by applying for an Operators licence. Can progress onto Safeguarding and Prevent and Child Sexual Exploitation courses to ensure awareness of these themes, so benefitting the local community by being the eyes and ears of the local area.
