Digital Skills for Beginners : Basics

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over.

This course is primarily aimed at learners who have very limited IT user skills, or those who wish to develop skills in an area they lack confidence. 

This course is for learners who struggle with IT or who wish to improve in an area where they lack confidence. Learners will cover:

• The basics of setting up and navigating their device
• The basics of eSafety and antivirus software
• How to download apps such as facetime or zoom
• Setting up a Gmail account to use with email and YouTube

There are variety of outcomes of the course linked directly and indirectly to job seekers gaining employment.

It will allow learners to upscale their digital skills therefore boosting their ability to independently and efficiently look for jobs. This will be achieved by:

• Being able to use emails
• Confidently navigate websites
• Feel confident using their devices.
• Improved ICT skills
• Digital skills
• Use appropriate search sites
• 'Soft skills' development Inc. peer working, planning engagement, self-confidence and communication
• Employability skills - working in a team, self-directed work, meeting deadlines, following instructions
• Volunteering
