Who is this course for? (Eligibility and personal characteristics)

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over.

This course is primarily aimed at learners who have very limited IT user skills, or those who wish to develop skills in an area they lack confidence. Learners should complete prerequisite course Digital Skills: Basics

What will I study? (Key modules or content)

This course has been designed as a follow-on from the prerequisite course Digital Skills: Basics and focuses on the area of eSafety.

The course will cover:

  • The basics of eSafety including password safety and making sure accounts are strong
  • Understanding the basics of location data safely eg. location settings on phone apps
  • How to spot scams and what to do about them
  • Identifying 'fake news' and authenticating information
  • Looking at stalking and how much your online activity can reflect what you're doing in 'real life'
