| Who is this course for? (Eligibility and personal characteristics) | Residents in South Tyneside who do not hold a qualification in English up to a Level 2. This includes those in paid employment or in receipt of a welfare benefit. |
| What will I study? (Key modules or content) | This course will help you to improve your skills in English with units covering:
Northern Rights provision for Functional English qualifications will be held at The Action Station, Boldon Lane, South Shields, NE34 0LZ. Additional support will be available to all learners on a one to one basis, as and when required. Flexible learning can be discussed and planned around any caring responsibilities. All learners will be invited to attend a one to one initial assessment that will include an English assessment and diagnostic as well as information, advice and guidance regarding recommended next steps. Learners will be invited to attend an induction prior to the start of the course delivery to provide an overview of the course, answer any questions and confirm expectations of attendance and commitment to learning. All learning will be contextualised to individual learner needs with IT fully embedded within all sessions. All learners have access to Northern Rights employment and IAG support, including how to apply for local vacancies and welfare benefits advice. Class sizes will be targeted to an average of 10 to enhance tutor / learner ratio and fully support learners to achieve desired Functional Skills qualification. |

Practical support in applying for employment can be accessed via our award winning training supporting with CVs, Interview techniques and application forms. |
