L1 SETPD Certificate in Employability Skills Through Digital Arts and Media - Media Savvy

This course is delivered over 10 sessions.

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over.

We have designed this course to suit a wide variety of learners including the following:

• Those with an interest in employment in digital arts and media (Inc. photography, graphic design and social media marketing)
• Those looking to improve basic IT skills, such as using laptops, word processing and digital file management - again increasing employability
• Those looking to improve 'softer skills' such as peer working, planning, engagement, self confidence and communication
• Those who are looking into self-employment and wish to create a logo, branding, marketing materials etc.
• Those looking to work in digital marketing
• Those looking to progress into college / university in a it / design related field
• Those who are unsure of a career path and looking to try something different, and also gain a useful qualification and transferrable skills

This course has been designed to give learners a solid introduction to a range of digital arts and media practices at the same time as enhancing core ICT and employability skills for example:

• managing learning
• equality and diversity
• understanding the use of IT in the workplace

The course structure is flexible and we support a personalised learning approach. We treat each group uniquely and every learner as an individual. Our method is sometimes labelled as 'learning by stealth' due to our success in engaging and retaining learners who have previously not successfully completed similar training programmes.

• Gaining a nationally recognised Level 1 SETPD Certificate in Employability Skills Through Digital Arts and Media
• Improved ICT skills
• Digital skills (image editing / manipulation)
• Improved word processing skills Inc. CV writing, project planning and general programme knowledge
• Self-marketing skills via digital imaging to enhance basic CV's - can also include brand creation for self-employment marketing
• Digital marketing skills 
• Design skills for marketing purposes eg posters / advertising / flyers / social media
• Soft skills development Inc. peer working, planning engagement, self confidence and communication

There are 7 units to complete as part of this 18 credit qualification, which cover a range of professional software.

• Imaging Software - L1
• Design software - L1
• Website Software - L1
• Word processing - L1
• Equality and Diversity - L1
• Understanding IT in the Workplace - L1

• Those who are looking into self-employment and wish to create a logo, branding, marketing materials etc.
• Those looking to work / progress towards roles / advanced courses in Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, Photography, Advertising, Web Design, Illustration, Book Cover Design, Games Design, Fashion Design, Surface Pattern Design, UX Design, IT roles, Art Direction. Office work in Admin Roles, file management, creating content for website and social media as well as updating platforms
• Self-Employment, selling design related skills, eg Designing for web, designing for print
• Self-Employment, using elements created on the course to promote new business in whatever area it may be
• Learners can progress onto the Level 2 IT User Skills with Media Savvy
