Overview
The Safeguarding Children Board oversees arrangements for safeguarding children in South Tyneside. Whilst it focuses on keeping children safe it does this to support them in leading healthy and fulfilling lives.
The board works closely with its member agencies and other partnerships in South Tyneside to make sure that all children and young people can reach their potential.
South Tyneside Safeguarding Partnership
The Children and Social Work Act 2017 replaces LSCBs with new local safeguarding arrangements led by the three named statutory safeguarding partners; Local Authorities, Chief Officers of Police, and Clinical Commissioning Groups (Health).
The three safeguarding partners will assume the responsibilities for safeguarding arrangements that currently sit with LSCBs, will have a shared and equal duty for new safeguarding arrangements and for working together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in South Tyneside.

The South Tyneside Safeguarding Children Board (STSCB) is committed to working closely with the voluntary, community and faith sector in South Tyneside.
We aim to raise awareness and standards relating to safeguarding children and young people and to strengthen partnership work between the third sector and statutory agencies.
We update the sector through the LSCB Newsletter and LSCB Road Shows as well as safeguarding training, through answering queries and giving general advice.
