Appropriate Body Support for Early Career Teachers (ECT)
South Tyneside Council, in conjunction with the School Workforce Development team (SWD), continues to provide a comprehensive programme of training and support for Early Career Teachers whilst also offering all the required Appropriate Body functions.
The costs outlined below reflect the level of support / Quality Assurance the LA, as your Appropriate Body, would be required to carry out as part of the ECT induction process. The LA will liaise with schools regarding costings where there are several ECTs in one school who are following the same Induction Programme
Schools will need to determine which of the three options they will adopt to support their ECTs.
Appropriate Body Support costs per ECT per term:
Full Induction programme - Option 1 (using 1 of 6 DfE approved providers) |
£60 per ECT per term |
2 years £360 |
Core Induction programme - Option 2 (using materials from 1 of 4 DfE approved providers)
|
£75 per ECT per term |
2 years £450 |
School-led Induction - Option 3 (school based induction programme with support from SWD based on ECF) |
£90 per ECT per term
|
2 years £540 |
Charges for the Appropriate Body Support will be collected termly in arrears from participating schools.
(Schools choosing not to purchase the Appropriate Body Support will be exempt from any of the ECT support functions offered by South Tyneside Council and will need to purchase this function from another AB).
