South Tyneside Council (Moor Lane Area, Cleadon & East Boldon (20MPH& 30MPH) Order 2022

South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under Section 84 of and Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. 

The effect of the Order will be to:-

  • REVOKE 40mph speed limit on Moor Lane, Cleadon from a point 50m west of the west junction of Moor Lane with Broadlands to a point 58m east of the junction with the B1299 Whitburn Road.
  • INTRODUCE   30mph speed limit on Moor Lane, Cleadon & East Boldon from a point 48m west from its junction with Broadlands in a westerly direction for 945m
  • INTRODUCE  20mph speed limit along the entire lengths of road in:-
    • Broadlands
    • Bywell Road
    • Charlton Grove
    • Moorfield Gardens
    • Old Course Road
    • Sandpiper View
    • Trevor Grove
    • West Farm Road
    • West Meadows Drive
    • West Meadows Road
    • West Moor Drive
    • Woodlands Drive
    • Woodlands Road
    • Woodlands View
    • Moor Lane, Cleadon from a point 48m west from its junction with Broadlands in an easterly direction for 580m
    • Moor Lane, East Boldon from its junction with Whitburn Road in a south easterly direction for 120m

Highways Act 1980 - Sections 90A and 90C Moor Lane Area, Cleadon & East Boldon

Proposed Construction of Road Humps  Traffic Calming Proposal 2022                                               

NOTICE is given that the Council of the Borough of South Tyneside in exercise of its powers under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980, after consultation and in accordance with Section 90C of the Highways Act 1980 and under all other enabling powers proposes to construct road humps complying with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 as traffic calming measures consisting of full width road humps 4 metre in length along Woodlands Road, West Meadows Road and Moor Lane, Cleadon & East Boldon. The speed limit on the road is 30 mph with a proposal to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph. The traffic calming is necessary to reduce traffic speeds.

The proposed humps will consist of a raised surface 75 mm above the existing carriageway.  The proposed locations are as follows:-

Schedule 1 - Road Hump (Kerb to Kerb in width and 4.0m in length)
