Overview
Open boating or canoeing is where young people can take part together in one boat. These activities are excellent for team building skills and allow everyone to succeed.
These activities work well with primary school groups and those with additional needs. We use a pond in a local park which is a controlled environment and allows for a steep learning curve.
The maximum number in each group is 14.
Pupils will need to bring:
- a towel
- spare shoes
- swimming costume / shorts
- long sleeved top
- a plastic bag
Price
Prices start from £130 per group and include:
- all instruction
- public liability insurance
- risk assessment
- equipment
For schools maintained by South Tyneside Council off site activity insurance is also included.
Health and safety
All staff who deliver are South Tyneside Council employees who have:
- appropriate safeguarding training
- a current enhanced CRB check
- a full first aid certificate
- the appropriate qualifications to deliver the activity
All equipment and buildings needed for the activity meets standards required by the industry.
We take the health and well being of our groups as a priority and take all reasonable steps to make sure this happens.
