Overview
Our first aid courses are Ofqual regulated and overseen by First Aid Awards, Nucoplus and delivered by Simonside on behalf of South Tyneside Council.
All courses take place from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
There is a 15 minute break in the morning, a 30 minute lunch break and a 15 minute break in the afternoon.
The courses are physical and anyone taking part must be able to stand, kneel down, lean over and perform casualty handling and CPR as part of an assessment process. This assessment criteria is set out by the UK Resuscitation Council.
If anyone has difficulty doing these, we are able to make reasonable adjustments during the teaching element, but the skills must be seen performed in a kneeling position on the floor during assessment. We cannot make adjustments for that practical assessment.
The course has various assessments that will take place throughout, including:
- scenarios
- group-based discussions
- a short test paper
- oral questioning
- practical observations
Due to the nature of the course please wear appropriate clothing.
