Overview
There is the choice between a half day walking in the local area or a full day out on the mountains.
This activity can be tailored to meet the needs of the group. We will look at navigation, the environment, history and geography of the area with discussions and challenges throughout. This activity is cross curricular with maths, English, humanities and PE all rolled into one.
Pupils will need to wear sensible clothing for the time of year including a waterproof jacket and boots (we can supply if necessary). No jeans at all but comfortable fitting clothing, and a good pair of socks, hat and gloves.
Pupils will need to bring a packed lunch for a full day, or a drink for half day sessions.
Price
Prices start from £130 per group and includes:
- all instruction on a guided walk
- suitable clothing and footwear if required
- technical equipment such as maps and compasses
- risk assessment and insurance
- transport can be arranged if necessary
Health and safety
All staff who deliver the activity are South Tyneside Council employees who have:
- appropriate safeguarding training
- a current enhanced CRB check
- a full first aid certificate
- the appropriate qualifications to deliver the activity
All equipment and buildings needed for the activity meets standards required by the industry.
