Top Award for Readhead Park

Readhead Park in South Shields has been awarded a prestigious Green Flag for the first time.

The park is now recognised as one of the best in the country, having been awarded Green Flag status by environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy.

Three parks in South Tyneside have secured prestigious quality awards, placing them among the best in the country.

South Marine Park and West Park in South Shields and West Park in Jarrow have retained the sought after Green Flag Award again this year.

Communication Campaigns Receive Recognition

South Tyneside Council received recognition at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations' (CIPR) North East PRide Awards 2021. We won:

• Gold for the #ProudtoSupport campaign in the Low Budget category
• Gold for the #LoveSouthTyneside campaign in the Community Relations category
• Silver for the #ProudtoSupport campaign in the Best Use of Digital and Social Media category
• Silver for the #ProudtoSupport campaign in the Best COVID Response category
